Lenovo has expanded the recall of its ThinkCentre all-in-one desktops, and has issued an announcement recommending that users should immediately stop using the affected desktop PCs.
Lenovo requests that users unplug the power cord on ThinkCentre M90z and M70z PCs sold between May 2010 and March 2012, which amounts to around 188,000 systems.
The recall being carried out by Lenovo is due to a faulty power supply that has a chance of overheating and poses a possible fire hazard.
“In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lenovo is voluntarily recalling 188,000 ThinkCentre M70z and ThinkCentre M90z all-in-one (AIO) desktop PCs sold worldwide between May 2010 and March 2012 (Previously, the announced recall included 160,000 systems built between May 2010 and December 2011).
Lenovo has determined that due to a failure of the power supply in the affected all-in-one PCs, the system can overheat and pose a fire hazard. Lenovo has received two customer reports of fire that resulted in damage to the PC.”
For more information on the recall and to see if your system is within the recall criteria, jump over to the Lenovo website for more details.

Just in case June wasn’t busy enough for mobile app developers, between Apple’s WWDC and Google I/O, Microsoft has thrown its hat into the ring. It’s scheduling a Windows Phone Developer Summit in San Francisco for June 20th and 21st, just a week before Google’s meetup. Details are scant in the notice Engadget received, although Microsoft teases us with the prospects of learning “developer opportunities and platform capabilities in Windows Phone.” Whether that means Apollo or just more about Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh (Tango) is still very much a mystery. Either way, it’s likely to be good news for Metro-friendly developers crestfallen after MIX was shut down.
RIM has revealed some details on their new camera app that will be available in BlackBerry 10 devices, and it comes with an interesting feature, described as a timeline feature it will take photos before hit the shutter button.
So if you take a photo, but miss something, or say someones eyes are closed in the photo, you can scroll through the cameras cache with a circular ‘timeline’ to pick the best frame for your photo.
This sounds like an interesting feature, and the device will start to record frames as soon as the camera app is loaded, giving you plenty of possibly decent shots to pick from if you take a bad photo.
RIM has unveiled the latest version of its mobile OS, BlackBerry 10 at its BlackBerry World event in Orlando, its new OS is based on QNX, and now we finally get some details about the OS and the hardware.
The first BlackBerry 10 devices will launch later in the year, and RIM has shown off a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha handset, which you can see in the photo below.
Whilst we don’t have any details on any devices that will be released, the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha handset should give us a taste of what is to come, and it features a 4.2 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels.
The device comes with NFC built in, and it features a quad band HSPA radio and a microSIM card slot, and is apparently very similar to the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, although in a smaller form factor.

A court in the UK has ruled that access to The Pirate Bay must be blocked by a number of ISPs here in the UK, the Internet Service Providers include Sky, Everything Everywhere, Talk Talk, O2 and Virgin Media.
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) previously asked the ISPs in November of 2011 to block access to the site, but the ISPs said that they would only block access to the Pirate Bay if they were ordered to do so by a court order.
The BBC have spoken to one of the ISPs, Virgin Media, who had the following to say about the recent court ruling.
“As a responsible ISP, Virgin Media complies with court orders addressed to the company but strongly believes that changing consumer behavior to tackle copyright infringement also needs compelling legal alternatives, such as our agreement with Spotify, to give consumers access to great content at the right price.”
