Windows Phone 8 Launch Event Announced For October 29th

Microsoft has a busy month this month, they are launching Windows 8 on the 26th of October and have a launch event scheduled for the 25th of October, where they will also launch their new Surface Tablet.

Now Microsoft has sent out invites to its Windows Phone 8 launch event, which will take place on the 29th of October in San Francisco, so we can expect to see a number of new Windows Phone 8 devices then.

We have already seen some new Windows Phone 8 devices from Nokia, with the Nokia Lumia 820 and Lumia 920, plus the new Windows Phone 8 handsets from HTC, which include the HTC Windows Phone 8X and HTC Windows Phone 8X, it will be interesting to see what other Windows Phone 8 devices are available at launch.

A poco più di una settimana dalla presentazione ufficiale, HTC 8X e HTC 8S, i nuovi smartphone Windows Phone 8 del produttore taiwanese sono riusciti a porsi all’attenzione del pubblico grazie ad un connubio di fattori: buona piattaforma hardware, design curato, prezzi contenuti ed una piattaforma software aggiornata. Anthony Rutter, senior product manager di HTC ha da poco rilasciato un’interessante intervista che tocca diversi argomenti relativi sia ai nuovi smartphone Windows Phone 8, sia alla stessa piattaforma mobile di Microsoft che, grazie alla nuova release, appare ancora più matura ed ottimizzata rispetto alle precedenti versioni. Nokia Drive Coming To All Windows Phone 8 Devices

Microsoft just announced their new OS, Windows Phone 8, which we hear would come with Nokia Maps built into the OS, and now they have announced that Nokia’s turn by turn navigation will also be available in all Windows Phone 8 devices.

That means that you wont have to buy a Nokia device to use Nokia Drive, it will be available in all Windows Phone 8 handsets from all manufacturers, and it will offer turn by turn navigation in over 110 countries around the world.

Nokia Drive is one of the major apps that on Nokia’s location platform. Today, we are also making this platform and its unrivalled quality of data and richness of features available on Windows Phone 8 for all partners. This means that Nokia’s Location platform will be central to the Windows Phone 8 experience, with the intention of developing smartphones that bring advanced location experiences. Windows Phone 8 partners and developers will be able to use our location assets to build location-based apps and experiences of superior quality.

Nuovi dettagli riguardanti Windows Phone 8: annunciate quattro risoluzioni

E’ poco più di un rumor ma voci insistenti riecheggiano nella rete. Fonti non confermato rivelano la presenza di quattro risoluzioni differenti legato al prossimo Windows Phone 8. Il sistema operativo supporterà quindi le risoluzioni 480×640, 480×800, 720×1280 e 768×1280.

La prima configurazione è senza dubbio adatta a un dispositivo comprendente una tastiera fisica mentre il resto possono essere associate ai classici modelli totalmente touch utilizzati in questi ultimi anni.

Sulla risoluzione maggiore si vocifera addirittura di superare le performance del Retina Display di iPhone e i suoi 326ppi, raggiungendo i 332, ovviamente il tutto fatto girare su dispositivi da 4.5 pollici.

Viene confermato inoltre il supporto WVGA, garantendo così la totale assenza di ostacoli nel momento in cui il sistema operativo dovrà essere aggiornato.

Windows Phone 8: arriva una nuova conferma dell’arrivo entro il 2012

Windows Phone 8 è atteso per fine anno ma finora, sebbene gli indizi siano stati molti, non è ancora arrivata un conferma ufficiale. La controparte desktop e tablet, Windows 8, è già stata ampiamente discussa ma l’OS per gli smartphone Microsoft del futuro non è ancora stato svelato.

Mentre si aspetta Giugno per il Windows Phone Developer Summit, da Techit.co.il, un distributore europeo di Nokia, arrivano notizie che andrebbero a confermare l’arrivo di WP 8 prima della fine del 2012. Il distributore si riferisce alla gamma Lumia che si arricchirà di nuovi modelli con Windows Phone 8 negli ultimi mesi del 2012.

Nulla di nuovo sulle caratteristiche dell’OS che, per quanto ne sappiamo finora, dovrebbe integrare il supporto per i processori multi-core, supporto per le microSD e display a risoluzione maggiore (almeno HD).

Samsung lancerà un Windows Phone 8 basato sul Galaxy S3?

 

Mentre l’attenzione di tutti è puntata sul Galaxy S3, il prossimo top di gamma Android di Samsung, un rumor inizia a farsi strada nel mondo Windows Phone, in particolare in quello di Windows Phone 8.

La prossima versione dell’OS Microsoft, infatti, potrebbe avere tra gli smartphone del debutto un modello interessante per le caratteristiche perché basato sull’hardware del tanto atteso Galaxy S3.

Ovviamente le specifiche non sono ancora note ma si parla di un Super AMOLED HD da 4.7 pollici, probabilmente “borderless” sulla parte laterale.

Il processore sarebbe un dual core e le altre caratteristiche potrebbero sfruttare l’hardware già creato per l’S3 che, secondo gli ultimi rumor, include una fotocamera da 12 megapixel, NFC, LTE e un tasto dedicato per lo scatto di foto.

Già con il Focus S Samsung ha riciclato l’hardware dell’S2 e il rumor non è quindi così improbabile. Vedremo quindi due smartphone identici che ci lasceranno la sola scelta del sistema operativo a disposizione?
