WordPress per iOS si aggiorna alla versione 3.4 ed introduce alcune novità

Da poche ore è disponibile su App Store un nuovo importante aggiornamento per WordPress, l’app ufficiale della famosa piattaforma di blogging che, così, raggiunge la versione 4.3. L’update si concentra quasi esclusivamente sulle notifiche push.

Le notifiche, già da tempo presenti in WordPress per iOS, fino ad ora servivano esclusivamente per avvisare l’arrivo di un nuovo commento. Con l’ultimo aggiornamento, il servizio di notifiche è stato ampliato con l’aggiunta di nuove funzionalità.

iPhone Math da 4,8 pollici ? Il rumor alimenta la nascita di un primo mock up (VIDEO)

 

Come spesso avviene, i rumors che girano attorno ai dispositivi Apple di prossima generazione generano Hype, catalizzando l’interesse di pubblico e designer che spesso provano ad immaginare un nuovo prodotto dandogli vita attraverso la realizzazione di video-concept e mock up.

Quasi parallelamente al rilascio di iPhone 5 hanno cominciato ad affiorare nell’immediato i primi rumors riguardanti la versione 5S, seguite da incessanti speculazioni su una versione low-cost prevista durante il 2013, voci sicuramente incoraggiate dalla commercializzazione di iPad mini, modello più piccolo ed economico del fratello maggiore iPad di quarta generazione. La più recente voce riportata dagli analisti riguarda un fantomatico dispositivo chiamatato ” iPhone Math “, le cui caratteristiche rendono poco credibile l’idea di una commercializzazione a breve termine ma che hanno scatenato la fantasia di alcune menti creative, prodigatesi in interpretazioni personali di come potrebbe apparire il device, sotto forma di immagini concept.

Russia Destroys Fake iPhones

Russian authorities are not very fond of fake Apple products. That’s why they used a bulldozer to crush a mountain of authentic looking iPhone 4 and 4S handsets after picking up a Chinese man who had attempted to smuggle the handsets into the country.
The Chinese man claimed that the handsets were real, but he lacked the necessary documentation to prove their authenticity. Totalling 127 units, these allegedly fake devices would cost about $36,500 on the Russian market. The man was fined a just $65, which seems strange. That fine won’t deter anyone from selling fake products.

I hope it doesn’t turn out that these phones were real after all of this.

Facebook Messenger For iPhone Gets Voice Calls

Facebook has added a new feature to its Facebook Messenger app for the iPhone, the ability to make voice calls over Wi-Fi and cellular data, and the feature is being rolled out to users of the App in the US.

The Facebook Messenger app for the iPhone was updated yesterday to version 2.1.1 and it also comes with a number of bug fixes, you can see details of what is new below.

The free calling in Facebook Messenger is apparently being rolled out to the app over the next few weeks, it seems to be available in the US only at the moment, there are no details on when it will be available in other countries.

 

iFrogz’s Caliber Advantage iPhone 5 gaming case hands-on

It’s no secret that iOS mobile gaming leaves us wanting when it comes to physical controls. Fortunately, at CES 2013, iFrogz is out to fill that void with the Caliber Advantage iPhone case-gone-console. The Caliber Advantage, an iPhone 5 and fifth-generation iPod touch accessory, uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to the corresponding enabled application rather than the phone itself. iFrogz mentions that a deal with Epic Games and Chair Entertainment to build the basis for the Caliber software powered by the Unreal Engine is in the works. In fact, later this April the company will host its own developer conference aimed at seriously expanding the platform and hopefully adding support for previously released titles.

Marrying a case with a full-fledged controller certainly adds some bulk, but after handling the prototype, the approximate half inch of added girth honestly didn’t incite any ill feelings. The chassis, while clearly heavy on the plastic, felt more sturdy than anticipated, and fairly natural to our hands. As for the buttons? Crisp and responsive, hard though that may be to believe. The unit is set to retail at $70.

Phil Schiller di Apple afferma: “Non sacrificheremo la qualità per guadagnare nuove quote di mercato”

Il Direttore Marketing di Apple, Phil Schiller, ha accompagnato il CEO Tim Cook durante il recente viaggio in Cina. Una trasferta che ha generato molti rumors legati ad accordi commerciali e ipotetici progetti low cost . La testata Evening News di Shangai ha pubblicato un’ intervista dove il Direttore Marketing chiarisce in parte la questione iPhone low-cost ricordando le politiche aziendali del colosso di Cupertino.

Di seguito un estratto che riporta alcuni passaggi fondamentali dell’intervista rilasciata da Phil Schiller al giornalista Huang Yinlong.

” Ogni prodotto che Apple crea, utilizza solo la migliore tecnologia disponibile. Ciò include la pipeline di produzione, il display Retina, il design unibody, per fornire il miglior prodotto sul mercato. Attualmente gli smartphones a basso costo sono più popolari dei telefoni cellulari. Nonostante questa popolarità, non rappresentano un possibile  futuro dei prodotti Apple, infatti anche se la quota di mercato di Apple per smartphones è solo circa il 20%, possediamo il 75% del profitto. “

Schiller chiarisce ancora una volta la filosofia che sta alla base del ” Thinking ” Apple, ricordando che l’azienda non sacrificherà mai la qualità a favore della quantità. Le parole di Schiller non escludono a priori i rumors che parlano di un probabile iPhone low cost durante questo 2013 ma fanno pensare all’attuazione di una strategia simile a quella adottata con iPAd mini, entrato in un segmento di mercato ad un prezzo base superiore alle previsioni degli analisti ( 329 € contro i 249 – 299 ipotizzati) ma caratterizzato da una qualità costruttiva superiore alla media unita alla portabilità del formato che sta inevitabilmente premiando  la scelta di Apple con volumi di vendita piutttosto buoni.

Griffin launches PowerDock 5 charging platform and ChargeSensor adapters

Many of us have multiple devices, maybe an iPad for every room and a couple of iPhones. So Griffin has produced the PowerDock 5, a USB-device that can charge up to five iPads simultaneously. Charging your variety of devices just got easier.
It’s priced at $100 and will be available in Spring. In other Griffin news, the company is putting out a new PowerBlock plug adapter and PowerJolt car charger with Griffin’s ChargeSensor technology. It identifies the power needs of your device and gives out energy appropriately.

Both will be available in the spring. The PowerBlock will cost $30 and the PowerJolt will cost $25.

Facebook Messenger aggiunge i messaggi vocali e, presto, anche il VOIP

 

 

Grosse novità per tutti utenti di Facebook Messenger su iOS. Il programma, aggiornato nelle scorse ore alla nuova versione 2.2.1, consente ora di registrare e inviare messaggi vocali e, al momento solo in Canada, di effettuare vere e proprie chiamate VOIP gratuite.

Facebook ha scelto di servirsi di tale nazione come banco di prova per testare il funzionamento su larga scala di tale nuova funzionalità, al momento esclusiva della versione per device iOS.

Abbiamo parlato spesso di Whatsapp Messenger, chi ormai non la conosce? Pur avendo molti importanti concorrenti continua a mantenere il suo primato come miglior strumento di messaggistica istantanea multipiattaforma e come applicazione più diffusa per questo utilizzo.

E’ stata aggiornata il mese scorso per essere compatibile pienamente con iPhone 5 e iOS 6. Whatsapp per l’ennesima volta si rende gratuita per iPhone per un periodo di tempo limitato e la società lo ha comunicato  mediante twitter. Tramite le notifiche push di iOS saremo informati sempre tempestivamente alla ricezione di nuovi messaggi da amici, colleghi e familiari. Non solo semplici messaggi di testo, ma anche foto, note audio e messaggi video, tutto a costo zero se si dispone di una connessione internet.

Orange Launches Libon VoIP App For iOS

Mobile carrier Orange has launched an new iOS app called Libon, which is a mobile app that lets you make free HD quality VoIP calls and send SMS instant messaging messages.

Orange today launched Libon, a free iOS communication app available in 90 countries. Libon enables users to make free High Definition voice calls, send text messages and create personalized voicemails all from one simple-to-use app. Libon works on any network. Libon will be available on Android in early Q1.

Libon is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store, and you do not need to be an Orange subscriber to use the app it will work on any of the mobile carriers.

Facebook Testing Automatic Photo Synchronisation On iOS Devices

Facebook has this week started testing a new service which allows iOS device owners to automatically sync photographs from their devices. Enabling you to easily then share your synced photos on your timeline from your desktop or mobile device.

Once you have enabled photo syncing on your iOS device, your mobile photos will be saved to a private section within your Facebook Photos, from where you can decide on how you would like to share them with others, via either post or private message.

Once your Facebook photographs have automatically synchronised, only you can see the photos which have been uploaded from your phone to your Facebook account. Facebook explains a little more about their new service:

“We generally try to sync your photos as soon as you take them. However, we also take into account a number of factors, such as your battery level and sync settings. New photos that you take will be privately synced as you take them. In your syncing settings, you can choose to sync over Wi-Fi and your cellular network, sync or over Wi-Fi only, or turn syncing off entirely. You can also choose to sync all photos in your camera roll over wifi and see how much storage space you have available.”

Twitter si aggiorna anche su iPhone: moltissime novità nella nuova release 5.1!

Novità graditissime, su iOS, per l’applicazione ufficiale di Twitter, che segue a ruota quella aggiornata, nelle scorse ore, anche per i device Android. Con numero di release 5.1, anche su iPhone e iPad il popolare social network dei 140 caratteri migliora così la propria capacità di interagire con gli utenti, fornendo loro contenuti interessanti.

Tra le principali funzionalità introdotte, le più evidenti sono sicuramente quelle che riguardano le tab Scopri e Cerca. Per quel che riguarda la prima, ora i tweet appaiono direttamente nel flusso delle notizie, con tanto di foto, video e anteprime degli articol. Per quel che concere invece la seconda, quando si effettua una ricerca, un flusso di foto rilevanti apparirà in cima ai risultati, e anche qui, ovviamente, saranno presenti varie anteprime multimediali.

Skype For iOS Updated, Adds Support For iPhone 5 Display

Skype have updated their Skype for Apple’s iOS app, and the new version adds in support for Apple’s larger 4 inch display on the iPhone 5, the latest version of Skype for iOS will work on devices running iOS 4.3 and above.

As well as adding in support for Apple’s new iPhone 5, the latest version of the Skype for iOS app comes with a number of unspecified bug fixes.

The new version of Skype for iOS is version 4.1.2 and it is available as a free download from iTunes, and the app will work with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and 4S, iPhone 5 and the iPad and iPod Touch.

Gli aeroporti di Milano Linate e Malpensa ‘sbarcano’ su iPhone e iPad

C’è voluto del tempo, ma finalmente due degli aeroporti più utilizzati d’Italia sono accessibili anche da iPhone e iPad grazie ad un’applicazione dedicata. Gli aeroporti in questione sono quelli di Milano Linate e Milano Malpensa, per ciascuno dei quali è possibile scaricare un’app interamente gratuita.

Una volta lanciate, i due programmi, sostanzialmente identici, consentono ai passeggeri di accedere a tutta una vasta serie di informazioni utili con cui organizzare il proprio viaggio e trascorrere l’attesa in aeroporto.

 

Microsoft’s Xbox Smartglass App Lands On iOS

Microsoft recently released their new Xbox Smartglass app on Google’s Android platform, and now they have released the Smartglass app on Apple’s iOS platform, and the app will work on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 5.0 and above.

Xbox SmartGlass lets your device work with your Xbox 360 console to bring rich, interactive experiences and unique content about what you’re watching or playing, right to the device that’s already in your hand. Interact with your favorite TV shows, movies, music, sports, and games, and bring remote control to a whole new level.

The Microsoft Smartglass app for Apple’s iOS devices is available as a free download from Apple’s iTunes app store.

Facebook updates iOS app with features from standalone Messenger and Camera apps

It’s not folding all of its apps back into one, but Facebook has now rolled out an updated version of its main iOS app that incorporates some features first seen in its standalone apps. That includes the ability to swipe left anywhere in the app to see who’s available to send a message to, as well as the ability to add the friends you message the most to the top of your favorites — both features drawn from Messenger. You’ll also get the new “upload flow” from Facebook’s Camera app that promises to let you share multiple photos faster, and the ability to send Facebook Gifts directly from the app (although that remains a US-only feature).

Evernote 5 For iOS Launching Soon (video)

Evernote the creators of the awesome note taking and reference storage application this is available across a number of popular platforms and devices. Has this week revealed that a new Evernote 5 version for iOS is currently in development and will be launching very soon, following on from their release last week of their new Evernote 5 for Mac systems in its beta development stage.

The new Evernote 5 for iOS can be seen in action in the video below, and will be available for the Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Unfortunately no information on worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.

Logitech announces $200 Broadcaster WiFi webcam for iPhone, iPad and Mac (video)

After trying (and failing) to surreptitiously shepherd it through the FCC, then seeing it leak out anyway, Logitech has formally outed the HD WiFi Broadcaster webcam. The 720P shooter (not 1080p as we hoped) allows wireless transmission from 50 feet away to any Mac computer, iPhone or iPad, instant broadcasting on Ustream and the ability to toggle between your device or computer’s built in camera with a button push. The hard plastic carrying case with a magnetic lid doubles as a stand to elevate the cam, which Logitech says will “play nicely” with apps like iMovie, Final Cut Pro and FaceTime. Broadcaster is already up for preorder for $200 in the US and €180 in Europe, so if you want to show that you’re doubly beautiful with a multi-cam Skype call, the PR and video are after the break.
