Spotify pronto a debuttare in Italia dal palco di Sanremo

 

Come annunciato da HDblog in esclusiva, Spotify è pronto a sbarcare ufficialmente anche in Italia, con lo switch-on deciso per martedì 12 Febbraio. La notizia ha ormai raggiunto tutti i canali e per il debutto è stato scelto l’evento musicale italiano più rappresentativo: il Festival di Sanremo!

Il servizio di streaming musicale on demand è già piuttosto conosciuto qui da noi, visto l’immenso successo raggiunto in poco tempo nei pochi paesi dove disponibile; tuttavia, Sanremo sarà il giusto palcoscenico per arrivare direttamente al grande pubblico, ai milioni di utenti italiani appassionati di musica che da tempo attendono l’arrivo di una simile piattaforma, del tutto legale.

Sanremo e il suo festival saranno parte integrante nel lancio di Spotify, con tutti i brani in gara e le altre canzoni dei nuovi album resi immediatamente disponibili per lo streaming. Una partnership davvero importante per la ‘startup’ svedese, che grazie ad accordi precisi con alcune delle principali etichette musicali (Sony, EMI, Warner Music Group, Universal e diverse indipendenti) renderà il tutto disponibile su smartphone e tablet con sistema Android, iOS, Windows Phone 8, come su Windows, Linux, Mac OS X.

Il sistema operativo mobile di Microsoft è stato l’ultimo a ricevere l’applicazione ufficiale, giunta sullo Store Windows Phone soltanto nella giornata di ieri, giusto qualche giorno prima del debutto in Italia, paese con il più alto share di Windows Phone 8 al mondo. L’applicazione non è ancora presente nello store virtuale italiano, ma lo sarà ben presto.

One In Six PCs Shipped In Q4 2012 Was An Apple iPad

Apple has had massive success with their iPad, and according to a recent report by research firm Canalys, in the final quarter of 2012, one in six PCs shipped was an Apple iPad, and tablets made up a third of all PC shipments for the same quarter.

Apple’s growth in the pad segment was driven by strong demand for the iPad mini. Its overall shipments, however, were hampered by supply issues. Canalys estimates that the mini made up over half of Apple’s total pad shipments, with its attractive price point and compact design leading to significant cannibalization in the iPad range and wider PC market. Despite record shipments, Q4 saw Apple’s pad share dip to 49%, becoming the first quarter it has not controlled over half the market. ‘Apple timed the launch of the iPad mini well,’ said Pin-Chen Tang, Canalys Research Analyst. ‘Its success proves there is a clear demand for pads with smaller screens at a more affordable price. Without the launch, Apple would surely have lost more ground to its competitors.’

Twitter simplifies search for Android, iOS and mobile web users

Today, Twitter announced an update for its search features for Android, iOS and mobile web. Furthering the company’s efforts for a more uniform user experience, the new updated adds a search button to the iPhone app, bringing it up to speed with its Android and iPad counterparts. Across the board users will be treated to improved search results for photos, tweets and accounts, along with a preview section for the Discover tab that takes a peek at the latest trends and activity. Wondering how all this magic works? Twitter’s Engineering blog describes the process by which pieces of content are ranked and scored based on factors like “burstiness” to account for recent interest spikes.

As for the Connect tab, it now defaults to Interactions, which displays new followers, mentions and retweets. However, if you’re not looking to keep track of who quoted your recent product placement rant, you can change your settings to Mentions only. Finally, and perhaps our most favorite new addition is a change to how Twitter’s mobile implementations handle links. You can now click a URL directly from your timeline without having to open the related tweet. The mobile site is already sporting the latest updates, but you’ll need to update your iOS and Android (it’s a manual update, thanks to a change in permissions) apps at their respective stores.

iPad Mini 2 To Feature 324ppi Retina Display (Rumor)

Apple launched their first iPad Mini last year, it comes with the same resolution display as the iPad 2, which is 1024 by 768 pixels, we have been hearing rumors that Apple will release the iPad Mini 2 this year with a Retina Display.

According to a recent report the iPad Mini will feature a Retina Display with 324ppi (pixels per inch) and a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, which is the same resolution as Apple’s current iPad 4, only it will be in the smaller 7.9 inch display of the iPad Mini.

It will be interesting to see if the new iPad Mini 2 does come with the Retina Display, it certainly would look impressive in the iPad Mini’s smaller 7.9 inch form factor, as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.

WordPress per iOS si aggiorna alla versione 3.4 ed introduce alcune novità

Da poche ore è disponibile su App Store un nuovo importante aggiornamento per WordPress, l’app ufficiale della famosa piattaforma di blogging che, così, raggiunge la versione 4.3. L’update si concentra quasi esclusivamente sulle notifiche push.

Le notifiche, già da tempo presenti in WordPress per iOS, fino ad ora servivano esclusivamente per avvisare l’arrivo di un nuovo commento. Con l’ultimo aggiornamento, il servizio di notifiche è stato ampliato con l’aggiunta di nuove funzionalità.

Lancio iPad da 128 GB: tattica per tagliar fuori la concorrenza?

Come tutti voi ormai già saprete, Apple ha lanciato a sorpresa, in questi giorni, una nuova versione di iPad di quarta generazione, con capacità di storage da 128 GB, ampliando ancora una volta il numero di dispositivi tra cui gli utenti possono scegliere in base alle proprie esigenze. iPhone Math da 4,8 pollici ? Il rumor alimenta la nascita di un primo mock up (VIDEO)

 

Come spesso avviene, i rumors che girano attorno ai dispositivi Apple di prossima generazione generano Hype, catalizzando l’interesse di pubblico e designer che spesso provano ad immaginare un nuovo prodotto dandogli vita attraverso la realizzazione di video-concept e mock up.

Quasi parallelamente al rilascio di iPhone 5 hanno cominciato ad affiorare nell’immediato i primi rumors riguardanti la versione 5S, seguite da incessanti speculazioni su una versione low-cost prevista durante il 2013, voci sicuramente incoraggiate dalla commercializzazione di iPad mini, modello più piccolo ed economico del fratello maggiore iPad di quarta generazione. La più recente voce riportata dagli analisti riguarda un fantomatico dispositivo chiamatato ” iPhone Math “, le cui caratteristiche rendono poco credibile l’idea di una commercializzazione a breve termine ma che hanno scatenato la fantasia di alcune menti creative, prodigatesi in interpretazioni personali di come potrebbe apparire il device, sotto forma di immagini concept.

Apple To Launch 4.8 Inch iPhone Along With iPhone 5S in June (Rumor)

 

The latest iPhone rumor comes from the China Times, which has been translated by Brightwire, and according to the report Apple will launch a larger iPhone with a 4.8 inch display along with the iPhone 5S in June of this year.

The device is rumored to be called the ‘iPhone Math’, which we think may be an error in the translation, or possibly a codename for the device, we doubt this is something Apple would use for the rumored handset when it is launched.

This new 4.8 inch iPhone will apparently come with an 8 megapixel camera although the report says Apple will release another version later in the year with a 12 megapixel camera.

We are not sure how reliable this information is, although there have been rumors in the past that Apple are working on a new iPhone with a larger display.

Russia Destroys Fake iPhones

Russian authorities are not very fond of fake Apple products. That’s why they used a bulldozer to crush a mountain of authentic looking iPhone 4 and 4S handsets after picking up a Chinese man who had attempted to smuggle the handsets into the country.
The Chinese man claimed that the handsets were real, but he lacked the necessary documentation to prove their authenticity. Totalling 127 units, these allegedly fake devices would cost about $36,500 on the Russian market. The man was fined a just $65, which seems strange. That fine won’t deter anyone from selling fake products.

I hope it doesn’t turn out that these phones were real after all of this.

Facebook Messenger For iPhone Gets Voice Calls

Facebook has added a new feature to its Facebook Messenger app for the iPhone, the ability to make voice calls over Wi-Fi and cellular data, and the feature is being rolled out to users of the App in the US.

The free calling in Facebook Messenger is apparently being rolled out to the app over the next few weeks, it seems to be available in the US only at the moment, there are no details on when it will be available in other countries.

 

Apple Thunderbolt Display Stock Shortages Hint At New Model

It would appear that Apple may be getting ready to release a new version of their Thunderbolt Mac display, as according to a recent report by Apple Insider, third part resellers of the device are shot on stock of the existing Thunderbolt Displays.

This is a possible hint that Apple has a new model on the way, as previous stock shortages in the past have occurred before the release of a new device, although Apple is still showing the device in stock.

Apple recently introduced their new range of iMacs with a much slimmer design than the previous models, so we suspect they could also have a new slimmer Thunderbolt Display in the works, as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.

iOS 6.1 è quasi pronto , ultima beta pre-relaease prossimamente in rilascio

Secondo fonti ritenute attendibili, iFun riferisce che una nuova beta per iOS 6.1 è quasi pronta al rilascio e stavolta dovrebbe trattarsi della versione Golden Master che suggerisce come l’OS dovrebbe essere quasi pronto per un rilascio pubblico.

Le prime distribuzioni di iOS 6.1 in versione beta per developers sono cominciate a novembre e seguite da quattro pubblicazioni. Non ci sono state grosse novità fino ad oggi, con cambiamenti minori focalizzati soprattutto alla stabilità del sistema. Tra le modifiche maggiori segnaliamo l’ integrazione tra Fandango e Siri per l’acquisto di biglietti cinema e un avanzato kit mappa destinato a developers che permetterà ad applicazioni di terze parti di effettuare la ricerca indirizzi basata su punti di interesse. iFrogz’s Caliber Advantage iPhone 5 gaming case hands-on

It’s no secret that iOS mobile gaming leaves us wanting when it comes to physical controls. Fortunately, at CES 2013, iFrogz is out to fill that void with the Caliber Advantage iPhone case-gone-console. The Caliber Advantage, an iPhone 5 and fifth-generation iPod touch accessory, uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to the corresponding enabled application rather than the phone itself. iFrogz mentions that a deal with Epic Games and Chair Entertainment to build the basis for the Caliber software powered by the Unreal Engine is in the works. In fact, later this April the company will host its own developer conference aimed at seriously expanding the platform and hopefully adding support for previously released titles.

Marrying a case with a full-fledged controller certainly adds some bulk, but after handling the prototype, the approximate half inch of added girth honestly didn’t incite any ill feelings. The chassis, while clearly heavy on the plastic, felt more sturdy than anticipated, and fairly natural to our hands. As for the buttons? Crisp and responsive, hard though that may be to believe. The unit is set to retail at $70.

Phil Schiller di Apple afferma: “Non sacrificheremo la qualità per guadagnare nuove quote di mercato”

Il Direttore Marketing di Apple, Phil Schiller, ha accompagnato il CEO Tim Cook durante il recente viaggio in Cina. Una trasferta che ha generato molti rumors legati ad accordi commerciali e ipotetici progetti low cost . La testata Evening News di Shangai ha pubblicato un’ intervista dove il Direttore Marketing chiarisce in parte la questione iPhone low-cost ricordando le politiche aziendali del colosso di Cupertino.

Di seguito un estratto che riporta alcuni passaggi fondamentali dell’intervista rilasciata da Phil Schiller al giornalista Huang Yinlong.

” Ogni prodotto che Apple crea, utilizza solo la migliore tecnologia disponibile. Ciò include la pipeline di produzione, il display Retina, il design unibody, per fornire il miglior prodotto sul mercato. Attualmente gli smartphones a basso costo sono più popolari dei telefoni cellulari. Nonostante questa popolarità, non rappresentano un possibile  futuro dei prodotti Apple, infatti anche se la quota di mercato di Apple per smartphones è solo circa il 20%, possediamo il 75% del profitto. “

Schiller chiarisce ancora una volta la filosofia che sta alla base del ” Thinking ” Apple, ricordando che l’azienda non sacrificherà mai la qualità a favore della quantità. Le parole di Schiller non escludono a priori i rumors che parlano di un probabile iPhone low cost durante questo 2013 ma fanno pensare all’attuazione di una strategia simile a quella adottata con iPAd mini, entrato in un segmento di mercato ad un prezzo base superiore alle previsioni degli analisti ( 329 € contro i 249 – 299 ipotizzati) ma caratterizzato da una qualità costruttiva superiore alla media unita alla portabilità del formato che sta inevitabilmente premiando  la scelta di Apple con volumi di vendita piutttosto buoni.

Zoom iQ5 iPhone 5 Lightning Microphone Announced
