Lucid Thunderbolt External GPU Unveiled
Anyone who is looking for more powerful graphic performance and has devices fitted with the new Thunderbolt port, might be interested in this demonstration showing an external GPU.
Which is equipped with a AMD Radeon 6700 chip connected to an Ultrabook via a Thunderbolt port. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Thunderbolt external GPU project and see it in action.
The talk of external GPU cards has been around for sometime but now Lucid is seeing the advantages of using the latest Thunderbolt port for additional graphics performance, within external GPU devices.
The external Thunderbolt device is just a prototype at the moment, so don’t expect it to arrive in stores anytime soon. But the connection via Thunderbolt may definitely keep the concept of external GPU cards alive, for the future.
