Point Of View GTX 680 Beast/BackPlate in vendita a 560 Euro
Dopo la notizia trapelata nei giorni scorsi, Point of View rilascia informazioni più dettagliate sulla nuova scheda video High-End GTX 680 Beast/BackPlate. Il produttore conferma che la scheda è equipaggiata con un cooler a Tripla Ventola per garantire un’ottmale dissipazione di GPU, Memoria e Componentistica; a questo poi si aggiunge un ulteriore backplate posteriore che dovrebbe ottimizzarne ulteriormente le performance. La VGA occupa almeno 3 slot PCI e sul retro prevede 2 connettori DVI, una Display Port e HDMi 1.4.
Adaptxt Keyboard With Handwriting Recognition Launches In Beta For Android Tablets
This week Keypoint Technologies has launched its new Adaptxt Keyboard v 1.0 beta , which has been designed to provide additional keyboard functionality when typing on Android tablets.
Adaptxt Keyboard v 1.0 beta version provides a number of features to Android tablet users, including a split keyboard function, enhanced keyboard layouts specifically designed for tablets, and a new ergonomically designed suggestion bar that can be repositioned anywhere on the screen.
Other features include a new experimental handwriting recognition feature, together with support for 50+ languages, and industry specific dictionaries covering IT, Telecoms, Medicine, Law and Finance.
The Adaptxt Keyboard v 1.0 Beta is currently free to download from the Google Play Store, however once is finishes its beta stage of development, you can expect a price to then be added, so don’t delay.

The new Photo Page, la nuova versione desktop di Instagram
Instagram ha “silenziosamente” aggiornato la sua presenza sul Web per consentire di guardare le foto e commentare anche a coloro che non amano il mobile. La società l’ha chiamata “The new Photo Page“, un chiaro segno che Instagram si sta espandendo al di là dello smartphone.
Tenete a mente, tuttavia, che questo aggiornamento non mette insieme tutte le vostro foto Instagram. Non si può parlare ancora di un profilo web stile Facebook o Google Plus. Instagram sta procedendo a piccoli passi, quasi a voler sperimentare questo nuovo sistema per capire quale sia la risposta generale dell’utenza.
Il tema blu, quasi in stile Facebook, che recentemente ha fatto la sua strada verso le applicazioni, ha coinvolto anche il lato web della piattaforma di photo-sharing.
Non si può dire che non sia accattivante esteticamente parlando. Tra l’altro, questo nuovo look dispone anche di immagini più grandi, sfruttando la crescente qualità delle fotocamere degli smartphone di ultima generazione.
Colorful GeForce GTX 670 con dissipatore Shark Bionic
Colorful ha reso note alcune foto del nuovo Shark Bionic, un dissipatore ad altissime prestazioni che dovrebbe trovare impiego sulle schede video di nuova generazione. I designer hanno optato per un dissipatore dual-slot con base nichelata in rame e ben nove heatpipes da 8 mm di diametro; queste ultime estraggono il calore e lo “trasmettono” a tre pile di alluminio: una posta direttamente sopra la base della GPU, una sopra l’area VRM ed una (più piccola) nella parte superiore della scheda.
Android Beam in Jelly Bean: come funziona il trasferimento immagini
Il trasferimento file e contenuti attraverso l’utilizzo dell’NFC è cosa ormai nota e la funzione si chiama Beam. Con Jelly Bean le potenzialità di questa caratteristica sono aumentate permettendo una maggiore interazione con le applicazioni presenti nel dispositivo. Apple pronta a rilasciare iWork 12 insieme ad OS X Mountain Lion?
Dopo tantissimo tempo – troppo – si torna a parlare della suite per la produzione di documenti, presentazioni e grafici, firmata Apple, che noi tutti conosciamo con il nome di iWork. Sembra quasi, infatti, che ci tenga più Microsoft ad aggiornare e rilasciare nuove versioni della sua Suite Office per Mac, che Apple con il suo iWork.
Apple iWork non viene aggiornato dal lontano gennaio 2009, più di 3 anni fa, ed oggi ne parla AppleBitch sostenendo che la sua nuova versione 2012 potrebbe vedere la luce proprio in concomitanza con il rilascio pubblico di OS X Mountain Lion il prossimo 25 luglio. Giusto per renderci conto di quanto tempo sia passato dall’ultima major release di iWork basti pensare che allora il sistema operativo desktop per Mac era Leopard (la versione Snow sarebbe uscita dopo 8 mesi); l’iPad non esisteva ancora e lo smartphone di tendenza era l’iPhone 3G.
L’ipotesi di AppleBitch, alla luce dei fatti sopra esposti, ha un certo senso anche considerando il fatto che in tutti i programmi dell’attuale suite iWork c’è ancora il pulsante di condivisione per salvare i propri documenti sul sito iWork.com. Cosa c’è di strano in questo? Che iWork.com chiuderà definitivamente proprio alla fine di questo mese per lasciare spazio al nuovo iCloud. Quindi due sono le ipotesi: o Apple rilascerà un nuovo aggiornamento per l’attuale iWork o lo farà per iWork con una nuova versione 2012.
Nvidia Kai entro la fine dell’anno anche sugli smartphone!
Se il Nexus 7 ha già riscosso un ottimo successo di pubblico sebbene non sia stato ancora commercializzato, dimostrando come sia possibile coniugare prestazioni e performance unite ad un prezzo particolarmente aggressivo che porterà ad un nuovo capitolo nel segmento tablet, quando fu annunciato il chip Nvidia Kai non si era parlato di un possibile arrivo anche su smartphone, ma sembra che le cose siano destinate a cambiare a breve.
Nei piani di Nvidia ci sarebbe l’espansione del progetto anche per il mercato smartphone entro la fine dell’anno, quindi in tempo per affrontare il periodo natalizio. Secondo le prime informazioni diversi produttori cinesi (Huawei, ZTE?) avrebbero già manifestato un forte interessamento per integrare la piattaforma all’interno dei propri prodotti e proporli così a prezzi particolarmente interessanti.
Tornando indietro di alcuni mesi, precisamente allo scorso Mobile World Congress era stata proprio ZTE ha mostrare uno smartphone Tegra 3 di cui non abbiamo saputo più niente. Probabilmente aspettava proprio questo momento per uscire allo scoperto, quindi già all’inizio dell’anno c’erano buone possibilità che il progetto Kai fosse qualcosa di ben più grande.
A seconda di come il chip si dimostrerà economico per gli smartphone, Nvidia potrebbe cominciare a competere fortemente nella fascia media del mercato scontrandosi direttamente con aziende del calibro di Qualcomm, ST-Ericsson e forse anche con i chip più costosi della MediaTek, a dimostrazione di come la società sia molto fiduciosa dei suoi sforzi nel mercato della telefonia.
Facebook invests in underwater Internet cable for Asia
Facebook wants more members in Asia and it is going to great lengths to get them. Facebook has reportedly invested in a new underwater cable project that will stretch up to 10,000 kilometers. That’s 6,214 in miles. The project is called Asia Pacific Gateway and the idea is to improve Internet speeds for the majority of the people on the continent by using fiber-optic cable to send and receive data to North America faster.
The new cable system will apparently run from Malaysia to South Korea and Japan, with links to other countries as well. Well, if they do succeed in this, those users will know that Facebook made it happen and so hopefully they will be grateful and show their love with even more memberships.
“Our investment in this cable will help support our growth in South Asia, making it possible for us to provide a better user experience for a greater number of Facebook users in countries like India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Singapore,” a Facebook spokesman said.

Corsair Launches Force Series GS SSDs
Corsair has announced a new series of SSDs called the Force Series GS. These new SSD’s use a 2.5-inch form factor suitable for mobile devices and ship with 3.5-inch mount solution for desktop computers as well. The SSDs use the SandForce SF-2200 SSD processor providing fast speeds along with toggle NAND.
The special toggle NAND and controller allows for random write speeds up to 90,000 IOPS. The SSD’s also maintain TRIM support and are designed to use little power to extend the battery life and mobile devices.
The SSDs are available now in 180 GB, 240 GB, 360 GB, and 480 GB capacities. Prices range from $189.99 to $489.99 depending on capacity.
Corrupt Apps Causing Problems In Apple’s App Store
It looks like some of the apps in Apple’s App Store, which have been updated over the last couple of days are causing problems with users of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
The issue was first spotted by the developer of the Instapaper app, when an update to their app was released, which was working fine, but when users downloaded the app it started crashing.
Last night, within minutes of Apple approving the Instapaper 4.2.3 update, I was deluged by support email and Twitter messages from customers saying that it crashed immediately on launch, even with a clean install.
This didn’t make sense — obviously, Apple had reviewed it, and it worked for them. My submitted archive from Xcode worked perfectly. But every time I downloaded the update from the App Store, clean or not, it crashed instantly.
Lots of anxiety and research led me to the problem: a seemingly corrupt update being distributed by the App Store in many or possibly all regions.
And this is happening to other apps, not just Instapaper, updated in the last few days.
It looks like quite a few apps have been affected by the issue, Apple has yet to announce what the issue is and when it will be fixed.

Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced Mini-ITX Case Unveiled
Cooler Master has this week taken the wraps off its new Elite 120 Advanced Mini-ITX Case, which has been designed to accommodate a full size power supply, but only be one third of the size of a standard case.
The Elite 120 Advanced Mini-ITX Case measures 9.4 x 8.2 x 15.8 inches and supports 3 x 3.5” / 4 x 2.5” HDD/SSD converted from 2 x 3.5″ HDD bay, and features a full-Size 5.25” drive bay.
Cooling in the case is provided by a 120mm front fan, 80mm side fan, and an optional 120mm HDD fan, together with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports as well as the obligatory microphone and audio inputs.

Halo 4 Limited Edition Xbox Console Leaked
It looks like Microsoft plans to release a new limited edition Xbox 360 console, the photo below is reported to be of a new limited edition Halo 4 Xbox Console.
This new Halo 4 Xbox console is expected to be launched with Halo 4 which is due later this year, of course this has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft.
As you can see from the photo the Halo 4 version will be an Xbox 360 Slim, and it features Master Chief on the side and front of the console, now doubt it will come with some other Halo 4 themed accessories, as soon as we get some more information on this new Halo 4 Xbox 360 console we will let you guys know.
Acer Aspire 5600U All In One PC Announced
Acer announced a couple of new all in one PC’s ast month, and now they have released the full specifications on one of them, the Acer Aspire 5600U which will come with a choice of Intel’s latest core i3 and Core i5 processors.
The Acer Aspire 5600 U features a 23 inch Full HD touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, there is also NVIDIA GeForce GT630M graphics and up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM.
Other specifications on the Acer Aspire 5600U include two USB 3.0 ports, three USB 2.0 ports, a multi format card readerHDMI, Ethernet, WiFi and a TV tuner.
Acer has not said how much the Acer Aspire 5600U will retail for when it for when it goes on sale as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.

Samsung To Manufacture Qualcomm’s 28nm Snapdragon Processors
Samsung and Qualcomm are currently competing with each other on their smartphone processors, and not it would appear that Samsung is actually going to help its rival produce their 28nm Snapdragon S4 SoC.
Qualcomm’s current processors are made by Taiwan’s TSMC, who are unable to keep up with the demand for the S4, so Qualcomm have looked for other companies to help meet the demand for their latest flagship processor.
As well as Samsung United Microelectronics (UMC) will also be producing the S4 SoC’s for Qualcomm, we wonder if a total of three different manufacturers will be able to produce enough of the chips to keep up with the demand.
It shouldn’t really come as a surprise that Samsung is willing to produce the S4 for Qualcomm, as they actually use the processor in their US version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, the international version of the device uses their own quad core Exynos processor.
