Apple’s Mac App Store Hits 10,000 Apps

Mac App Store

Apple launched their Mac App Store back in January of 2011, and now according to a recent report, the Mac App Store has hit a new milestone of 10,000 apps, although this has yet to be confirmed by Apple.

The news comes from two different third party sources who have estimated the amount of apps in the Mac App Store, and according to MacGeneration there are now more than 10,000 apps available to download.

Also the guys over at MacRumors have estimated that there are a total of 10,334 applications available to download from the Mac App Store, with two different sources we suspect these figures are about right and we will probably get some sort of official announcement from Apple shortly.

Apple spits out Android option from Chomp app navigator

Apple drops Android search option from Chomp

It’s taken a bit longer than we expected, but following Apple’s acquisition of app search engine Chomp, the Android option has now been cut out from its homepage. We’re now left with the choice between iPhone and iPad categories, alongside existing shortcuts for popular freebies and apps on sale, in a few efforts to cut through Cupertino’s 600,000-strong app selection. Hit up the source to give it a run for yourself.

Samsung Reports Massive Quarter One Profits

Samsung

Earlier we heard that Samsung has overtaken Nokia to become the worlds largest handset vendor in quarter one of 2012, and Samsung has recently released its financial details for the same quarter.

Samsung posted record profits for quarter one of 2012, almost double that for the same period last year, with an operating profit of 8.85 trillion won, about $5.16 billion, which is a 98 percent gain over the same period on 2011.

Samsung has said that the increase is due to its sales of its popular smartphones and tablets, as well as sales of high resolution panels, it certainly looks like the company has done well.

We wonder if Samsung will be able to keep this up, with the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S III expected within the next few weeks, we suspect Samsung is going to end up having a record year in 2012.
