Concept Edge To Edge Screen iPad Looks Amazing (Video)

iPad Concept

Apple will announce their third generation iPad next Wednesday, the iPad 3, and the device is rumored to come with a high resolution retina display, although we are sure it wont look as cool as this concept iPad design from Aatma Studio.

The concept iPad which can be seen in the video below, features an edge to edge touchscreen display with no bezel, and when two iPads are joined together they form one large display.

It certainly looks very interesting from the video, although we suspect we may have to wait a few more years before we see an iPad with these functions.

EA’s Origin Now Enables Purchased Games To Be Added From Steam And Others

EA Origin

EA has this week announced and enabled a new feature on its Origin content delivery service, that now allows users to add games that they might have purchased on other libraries, Steam in particular.

You might have already noticed when logged into EA Origins that EA games you have already purchased in Steam and the like have automatically now appeared in your Origin account. If you haven’t don’t worry you can also add them manually if needed.

EA has be quick to point out that at notice was information on your computer accessed for the transfer, and all records have been obtained via EA’s game registration records. Most likely using your registered email address as the linking factor. EA explains:

”A few of you noticed some of your older EA games showing up in your Origin My Games library over the past few weeks and I wanted to clear up any confusion. We tested a feature that in some cases made your older games show up in your Origin My Games Library. At no time was any information on your computer accessed, all of this information was obtained directly from our game registration records. Hopefully we didn’t cause too much confusion for anyone. We’ll be sure to come back and share more information about this feature as soon as we can.

“Meanwhile, if you do want to activate and download older EA games to your library, we have a tool that allows you to do this. Just go to Activate and enter your registration code. Not all games are supported at this point, but we’re continually working to make older titles available. For more information on this service, as well as a list of games that are currently available for activation, see Code Redemption FAQ.”

Less Than One Million Google TV Devices Sold?

Logitech Revue

Google TV hasn’t exactly been as popular as Google had hoped, and now we finally get some information about how many Google TV devices have actually been sold.

According to a recent report by GigaOM, there are less than one million Google TV devices out there, the information was discovered in Google’s own data in the Android Market, and more than 50 percent of these are Logitech Revue boxes, which Logitech no longer sells.

If you compare this to Apple, who describe their Apple TV as a hobby, Apple recently announced that they sold 1.4 million Apple TV devices in the last quarter of 2012, and have sold a total of 4.2 million to date.

Roku another company who sells connected set top boxes recently announced that they had sold a total of 2.5 million Roku boxes by the end of 2011.

Google obviously has some serious work to do if they want their Google TV platform to become popular, whether it will or not remains to be seen.

Google Offers $1 Million To Hack Its Chrome Browser

Google Chrome

Google has today announced that it’s putting up a bounty of $1 Million for anyone who can hack its Chrome browser and pinpointing vulnerabilities within it.

The competition called Pwnium will take place at this years CanSecWest security conference on March 7th. With prices totalling a million dollars, with prizes for $60,000, $40,000 and $20,000, for finding vulnerabilities in Chrome.

Pwnium is being organised by Google and is a splinter contest from the well known Pwn2Own hacking contest. The competition will be run on a first come first serve basis and winners will also be given a tasty new Chromebook.

Google decided to launch its own contest this year due to the organisers of Pwn2Own, Tipping Point say that contestants do not need to reveal the techniques used to breach the browsers’ security. Google explains:

“We will issue multiple rewards per category, up to the $1 million limit, on a first-come-first served basis. There is no splitting of winnings or “winner takes all.” We require each set of exploit bugs to be reliable, fully functional end to end, disjoint, of critical impact, present in the latest versions and genuinely “0-day,” i.e. not known to us or previously shared with third parties. Contestant’s exploits must be submitted to and judged by Google before being submitted anywhere else.”

During previous Pwn2Own competitions Google’s Chrome browser has with stood the onslaught of hackers and come away without being hack for three years on the trot. Unlike other well known browser such as Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer that have all been hacked each year.

For more information on the competition and prizes jump over to the Google Pwnium Blog post.
