BMW unveils concept Husqvarna electric motorcycle

There just aren’t enough electric motorcycles in the world at this point, so thank goodness BMW just introduced a new one into the world. It’s a slinky thing, with a single front fork and a spindly rear swingarm, two features that don’t make it look particularly trail-ready — despite the Husqvarna branding. (BMW bought Husqvarna back in 2007.) But, it does look a little more off-roadable than the electric scooter concept BMW also unveiled. No further details about range, speed, or indeed likelihood of production are available for either, but there are more pics of both in the gallery below.
Marshall Electronics outs glasses-free Orchid 3D monitor for pro filmmakers

If you’re trying to turn your next film into a three dimensional cinematic masterpiece, having a quality camera to record things is a necessity. But, prudence demands that would-be James Camerons film with a first-rate monitor to view all that video as well. Good thing Marshall Electronics has made the Orchid OR-70-3D monitor to meet all your moviemaking needs. It’s got a 7.2-inch, 1600 x 600 glasses-free 3D display that works using parallax barrier and lenticular hybrid technology — all in a package that weighs just under three pounds. In order to let you fine tune things in all three dimensions, there’s real-time waveform and color vectorscope monitoring along with a suite of other 3D tuning tools. The cost for such prodigious production value? $7,899, which sounds like a lot, but if it helps you make the next Avataryou’ll have no problems recouping your investment. PR’s after the break.
Tokyoflash reveals Kisai Night Vision wristwatch, makes telling time fun again

Tokyoflash is on the loose once more, and this time it’s introducing a concept that has been in the works for months on end. The Kisai Night Vision — which was made official moments ago, first appeared on the company’s blog as a mockup in August of 2010 — and as they say, “what a difference a year makes.” As of today, the LED wristwatch is up for grabs, constructed with black stainless steel, sub-surface LEDs, a hexagonal form factor and support for USB recharging. Despite your initial assumptions, it’s actually capable of displaying both time and date, and there’s even a built-in alarm with a “light-up animation.” Fancy! It’s available in black with blue, green or red LEDs, and if you order soon, you’ll be able to snag one for $129 / £79 / €89; procrastinators will face a sticker of $149 / £91 / €103. Take a shufti in the gallery below.
NEC LaVie Touch Windows 7 tablet comes packed with DVD-sporting dock

If this nifty little bugger looks familiar, that’s because it should. NEC’s LaVie Touch sports the same design and specs as the VersaPro model we spotted back in May. The difference here is, it comes packed with a bevy of accessories, including a keyboard, mouse and a dock that happens to hold a DVD drive. Underneath the 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800, IPS touchscreen is a 1.5GHz Oak Trail CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD. Sure the pair of full USB ports, HDMI jack, WiFi, Bluetooth and SD reader are welcome, but it’s that optical drive packing stand that really makes this a unique package. The NEC LaVie Touch should be landing in Japan next month for around $1,200 with the accessories. Sadly, here’s no word of whether or not it’ll ever find its way stateside.
Mercedes-Benz’s hydrogen-powered F125! concept slips out ahead of Frankfurt

Pentax crams 18x optical zoom into Optio RZ18 point-and-shoot camera

Guess what, amateur shooters? The superzoom just got shrunk. Pentax has just outed a new compact that touts a downright impressive 18x optical zoomer (25-450mm equivalent), with the snooping lens married to a 16 megapixel sensor, a smattering of shake reduction technologies and a 3-inch HVGA LCD ’round back. Moreover, you’ll find a nine-point autofocus system, face detection algorithms, an SDXC card slot and an HD video mode capable of snagging 720p clips at 30 frames per second. It’s all set to ship next month in black, white and orange for $299.95 here in the States, with the full presser embedded just after the break.
Wacom Cintiq 24HD images break cover, we start practicing our stick figures

We’ve been all giddy since the Cintiq 24HD waltzed through the FCC last month… and now, we have even more reason to be excited. Although unconfirmed, signs continue to point to a 24-inch HD display (1920 x 1200 supported) — upon which Wacom has implemented a stand that appears to allow the user to customize their viewing angle based on the task at hand. According to CG Everything, the peripheral is said to boast 2048 levels of pressure sensors with a 60-degree tilt sensor, 92 percent Adobe RGB color saturation, 190 nits of brightness, 550:1 contrast ratio and a 13ms response time. We’re still waiting on Wacom to corroborate all of this, but those who’d rather throw caution to the wind can indulge below.
Ford electric E-Bike Concept packs a Galaxy S II on the bars, motor in the wheel

Ford already wowed us with the Evos concept, but the slinkiest hybrid we’ve seen so far here in Frankfurt has not four wheels but two. It’s a concept bicycle from Ford called — wait for it — the E-Bike Concept. It packs an electric motor built into the front wheel that can power it up to a maximum speed of 25 km/h, driven by a 9.2Ah battery. Or you can power it the conventional way by pedalling, torque conveyed to the rear wheel over a carbon belt. (Oily chains are so last century.)
Perhaps even more interesting is what rests up on the handlebars. No, that’s no iDevice — refreshingly it’s a Galaxy S II. Through some custom software, riders will be able to change suspension modes and of course monitor battery charge, not to mention get a little assistance from Google Navigation and maybe pump out some Pandora too. The word “Concept” in the title here and the spindly frame design should give you a clue about when this thing will see production — probably never. But, we’ll be back with an update if that ever changes.
Ford Evos cloud-connected concept car unveiled at Frankfurt (Video)

The 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show doesn’t kick off until tomorrow, but already Ford’s unveiled the tasty hunk of conceptual automotive design it teased us with a few weeks back. It’s called the Evos, it’s loaded with technology and, while it doesn’t look much like any of the current autos you’ll find down at the local Blue Oval dealer, it’s actually said to be the precursor of a new model that’s coming in just four months time. Join us after the break for more details.
